With the end of summer, an intense season of congresses has come to a close, months filled with inspiring discussions, new collaborations, and travels across Europe. It’s been both energizing and rewarding to share our research and connect with so many brilliant minds in the biomechanics and computational mechanics communities.
May 15–17 – ESVB 2025, Strasbourg
The European Symposium on Vascular Biomaterials (ESVB2025), organized under the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS), was the perfect way to start this year’s conference season.
Held in Strasbourg, the symposium brought together clinicians, engineers, and biologists to discuss the latest advances in vascular implants, materials, and biomechanics, a truly multidisciplinary meeting bridging science and surgery.
It was a fantastic experience to see our research presented during the Translational Researcher Day and to engage in stimulating discussions on how computational modeling and experimental work can drive innovation in vascular repair and regenerative medicine.
June 19–21 – HICOMP, Rhodes Island 🇬🇷
The HICOMP Conference in Rhodes Island, Greece, offered a valuable opportunity to strengthen ties between the Italian and Greek communities working in computational mechanics, biomechanics, and mechanics of materials.
Set against the beautiful backdrop of the Aegean Sea, the meeting combined high-level scientific exchange with a warm, collegial atmosphere. The discussions ranged from advanced modeling techniques to novel applications in materials science and bioengineering, and many ideas were born between sessions over Greek sunshine.
Early July – ESB & ESMC 2025, Zurich & Lyon
July brought an intense but unforgettable week, from Zurich for the European Society of Biomechanics (ESB)Congress straight to Lyon for the European Solid Mechanics Conference (ESMC2025).
Both events showcased the breadth and vitality of biomechanics and mechanics research in Europe, from the molecular scale to whole tissues and engineered systems. It was a week full of great discussions, new insights, and inspiring presentations from both established leaders and young researchers.
September 8-10 – ICCB 2025, Rome
Back in Italy for the XI International Conference on Computational Bioengineering (ICCB 2025) in Rome, an inspiring event gathering researchers from around the world to discuss the frontiers of computational modeling in biology and medicine.
I had the chance to present my recent work and to chair a session during the Italo-German Minisymposium on In Silico Medicine, which focused on connecting two strong research communities in computational biomechanics. The meeting reinforced how important interdisciplinary collaboration is to drive progress in personalized and predictive medicine.
September 17-19 – ECCOMAS Young Investigators Conference 2025, Pescara
The conference season closed in Pescara with the ECCOMAS Young Investigators Conference (YIC2025) always one of the most vibrant and inspiring events of the year.
The YIC brings together early-career researchers from across Europe, offering a platform to exchange ideas, explore innovative computational methods, and build future collaborations. It was a pleasure to share my research, engage in stimulating discussions, and feel the enthusiasm of a growing international community.
What a journey: science, collaboration, and friendship across Europe. Grateful for the experiences, the people, and the ideas that made this summer unforgettable. Looking forward to the next chapter!
