In computer science, Computer-aided engineering (often abbreviated as CAE) refers to software applications that facilitate the resolution of technological problems through numerical computation.
All engineering problems that can be described by equations are likely to be solved with the help of CAE programs. However, the categories of problems most frequently solved by CAE software are the following:
– Analog simulations and digital simulations of electronic circuits.
– Calculation of electromagnetic fields (both the desired ones, in the case of antennas design, and the undesirable ones, in the case of electromagnetic interference study).
– Static or dynamic calculation of structures (in civil or mechanical engineering).
